Stacked birthday card

Today, I am so excited to share a card that combines two of my absolute favorite things: the cozy charm of patchwork quilting and the precision of intricate die-cutting. If you love texture, dimension, and thoughtful paper piecing, you are going to adore how this project came together!

The Inspiration Behind the Design

When I saw this stunning geometric quilt die set, I immediately envisioned a soft, welcoming pastel color palette. Quilts evoke feelings of warmth, comfort, and handcrafted love, which makes them the ultimate theme for a special handmade birthday card. Instead of traditional fabric, I turned to my scrap bin of pattern papers, hunting down sweet stripes, playful polka dots, and subtle prints in cheerful yellows, minty teals, soft pinks, and gentle lavenders.

Playing with Dimension: The Stacking Technique

The real secret to this card's striking appearance lies in the stacking technique. To make the geometric design truly stand out, I didn't just glue flat pieces of paper down. Instead, I die-cut every single triangle shape multiple times from sturdy cardstock and my selected pattern papers. By layering and stacking these die-cuts together, I built up substantial height and texture.

Once the individual dimensional pieces were ready, I carefully pieced them into a bold black outline die-cut frame. The dark, stitched-detail frame acts like a stained-glass or quilt-binding border, holding all the colorful paper pieces in place and making those pastel patterns pop with incredible depth. Adding a few tiny metallic gold gems at the intersections added just the right touch of elegant shine.

Keeping It Balanced

Because the geometric quilt block is so visually rich and detailed, I wanted to keep the rest of the card clean and uncluttered. I mounted the finished panel onto a crisp white card base and added a flowing, handwritten-style "happy birthday" sentiment at the bottom in bold black ink. It anchors the heavy design perfectly and lets the meticulous paper piecing take center stage.

Tropical paradise card

Aloha, crafty friends! There is something truly magical about paper crafting that allows us to transport ourselves to a warm, sun-kissed beach getaway right from the comfort of our craft rooms. Today, I am so thrilled to share a vibrant, tropical-themed card that captures the joyful essence of an island escape. This project was an absolute joy to put together, combining intricate die-cutting techniques with detailed stamping and coloring to build a lively, dimensional scene. If you are looking to add a little sunshine to someone's day, this card design is sure to do the trick!

To bring this beachy paradise to life, I started by building a dynamic backdrop using specialty dies. For the sky, I used a brilliant sun-ray background die set, cutting it from vibrant yellow cardstock to create a textured focal point that truly looks like the sun is radiating warmth. Below that, I layered a wavy ocean die cut, using shades of blue ink to add depth and dimension to the waves before adhering them to a clean, crisp white card base that lets all the bright colors pop. To anchor the entire composition, I added a lush palm tree assembled from layered green and brown cardstock, perfectly positioned to shade our main character.

With the background in place, it was time to bring in the stamped elements. The star of the show is this adorable hula dancer, which I stamped, colored with alcohol markers for smooth and vibrant gradients, and carefully cut out. I also stamped and fussy-cut a cluster of lovely purple and pink flowers, placing some right into the dancer's hair and creating a charming floral border on the left side of the card for visual balance. For the finishing touches, I stamped a bold "aloha" greeting in a clean script font and added a touch of sparkle across the ocean waves to catch the light. This project came together so harmoniously, reminding me of how much fun it is to mix and match stamps and dies for dimensional storytelling. Clean, Simple, and Stunning: Featuring the Simon Says Stamp Whirl Leaves Die

Today, I’m showcasing a card that proves you don't need dozens of layers to make a huge impact. This design is all about embracing a Clean and Simple (CAS) aesthetic, letting one stunning element truly shine: the Whirl Leaves die from Simon Says Stamp.

Focus on the Focal Point

The Whirl Leaves die is an absolute dream for adding texture and movement to your projects. The intricate, swirling lines cut into the leaves give the piece a beautiful, almost quilled look without the tedious rolling!

The Coloring Technique

To make the die-cut pop, I used a fun and easy technique: color blending.

 * I started with a piece of white cardstock

 * Using bright green and yellow inks, I blended the color directly onto the paper. This creates a gorgeous, variegated look, mimicking a leaf catching sunlight.

 * The darkest green is concentrated at the edges, fading into that vibrant yellow at the center and along the spine. This simple coloring step adds incredible depth and realism to the die-cut.

Crafting the CAS Look

A CAS card is defined by its use of white space and minimal embellishments.

 * The Layers: I chose a calming color palette: a soft peach/salmon card base, layered with a thin black mat, and finally, the bright white panel where the leaf resides. The black mat provides just the right amount of contrast to frame the central image and make the colors pop.

 * The Sentiment: The "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" sentiment is simple, crisp, and mounted on a strip with foam adhesive. Placing it right below the main image keeps the eye flowing naturally down the card.

Today, I’m thrilled to share a recent card creation that truly captures the spirit of romantic vintage—a beautiful shabby chic design. This style is all about soft colors, delicate textures, and a dreamy, nostalgic feel, and this project is full of all three!

The Elements of Romance

The foundation of this card is a beautiful floral patterned paper in soft pinks and greens, instantly setting a whimsical mood. Layering is key to the shabby chic look.

The Focal Point: The Lady and Her Flowers

The central image is a cutout of a young lady in a soft lavender-colored dress, holding a basket of flowers. This die-cut or fussy-cut element grounds the scene, making it feel like a romantic stroll through a blossoming garden. Notice the delicate flowers woven into her hair—it’s all about those tiny, perfect details!

Texture and Lace

One of the most essential elements of a shabby chic card is texture. On the upper left, I've incorporated:

 * A piece of beautiful crocheted lace in a warm cream color, giving that immediate heirloom feel.

 * A doily or lace-inspired die-cut element, adding another layer of intricate detail.

Monochrome Mint Magic

Welcome to my blog and follow my work on social media. 

I'm excited to share a project I created for the latest Pinkfresh Studio Challenge it's all about Teal, which is focused on monochrome designs! This challenge really pushed me to get creative with tone, texture, and dimension, all while sticking to a single color family. For my card, I chose a beautiful, calming mint/teal color palette, which gives the finished piece a clean and contemporary feel.

Focusing on Texture and Dimension

Since a monochrome card can easily fall flat without contrast, I focused heavily on incorporating texture and dimension using my favorite Pinkfresh Studio dies - Foliage shaker die

 * The Background: I started with a light teal cardstock that has a subtle, where I cut out strips of same cardstock and added it diagonally. This texture provides a great foundation and visual interest without competing with the main elements.

 * The Die Cuts is the focal point: The star of the post is the leaf die cut. I did some die cut inlay technique using two more shades of teal. Placing the leaves in the four corners helps frame the central sentiment beautifully. The remaining die cut pieces I stacked them together and added to the center and finished with a sentiment. 

To finish the look, I added a few subtle gold embellishments—tiny metallic dots placed strategically on the leaves and around the sentiment. They catch the light and add a tiny bit of sparkle without breaking the monochrome rule. 

This project was a fantastic exercise in using different shades and materials within one color family to create depth. I love how the cool tones make this a perfect card for anyone, year-round!

Book card for a baby

Welcome to my blog and follow my work on social media.

"Looking for a baby shower gift that's truly unique and heartfelt?" or "Tired of the same old greeting cards?" Here is an idea I wanted to share, Book card.. Its super fun and has so many small details and stories. I used pattern paper from Dress my Craft and flowers from I am roses - R6 (Round roses) and S10 (Small Achillea Cottage) and elements I printed them out which I found randomly.

Let me share a story here and imagine this one with me.

Little Emma was still too tiny to understand much, but her mama knew just how to keep the magic of these early days alive. On Clara's first birthday, a mysterious package arrived. Mama carefully untied the ribbon, her eyes sparkling, and inside lay a wondrous creation – a little book, handmade with love.

On one side, a miniature world unfolded. A soft sky held fluffy clouds, and friendly bears sat beside bright alphabet blocks – A, B, C – ready for all the stories they'd read together. It was a cozy, dream-like nursery scene, perfectly capturing the soft wonder of Emma.  

This isnt just a card but the first treasure, a magical book and a start for an adventurous journey in a life of a baby.

Summer layout

Today, I’m excited to share a scrapbook layout that perfectly captures the bright, refreshing energy of summer. While I love detailed projects, sometimes a clean and simple layout is the best way to let your memories (and your supplies!) shine—plus, they are so much easier to store!

To bring this vibrant layout to life, I reached for some gorgeous products from Pinkfresh Studio. The combination of yellows, greens, and blues immediately screams summer!

 * Summer Elements: I focused on two classic summer motifs: lemons and sunflowers. I used the Lemons & Blueberries stamp set and the Sunflower Washi Tape stamp to create my colorful embellishments. After stamping the images, I colored them in bright yellows and crisp greens before taking on the task of fussy cutting them out—it’s always worth the effort for that custom look!

 * Color-Matched Die-Cuts: To ensure the background elements flowed with the sunny theme, I incorporated die-cuts from both the Spiral Circle Die and the Twist Pattern Die. Before adhering them, I took the extra step of inking the die-cut pieces with coordinating yellow and green inks to seamlessly blend them with the lemons and leaves. This trick adds subtle texture without competing with the photos.

The Power of Simple Design

My goal for this layout was to keep the focus clean while using multiple layers of die-cuts and stamped images.

 * Background Building: I layered the delicate die-cuts on the page, using their intricate patterns to frame the space for the photos and title.

 * Placement Magic: Sometimes, the best way to finalize a design is to step away! I came back to the project with fresh eyes and immediately found the perfect arrangement for the colored elements, allowing them to cluster beautifully around the focal points.

 * Finishing Touches: The title was created using an Alphabet stamp and die set, keeping the typography clean and complementing the geometric background. The overall look is one of effortless summer joy!

I'm excited to share a card today that marries intricate floral die-cutting with a dramatic, textured background. This "Sending Hugs" card uses beautiful products from Altenew to create a striking, dimensional result.

Crafting the Dimensional Tulip

I decided to finally dust off my layering dies and create a stunning floral focal point.

 * Layering Dies: I used the Craft-A-Flower: Tulip Full Bloom Layering Die Set. I die-cut the petals from an orange cardstock and the leaves from green cardstock.

 * Ink Blending for Depth: To give the petals and leaves a realistic, richer look, I applied subtle ink blending to all the die-cut pieces. This step adds wonderful variation and depth to the colors.

 * Creating 3D Dimension: To make the tulip truly pop, I initially created two layered flowers but chose to use the final flower by layering the die-cut pieces and then securing the completed flower to the card front using foam adhesive. This layering and dimension is subtle in the photo but gives a fantastic, realistic 3D effect in person!

The Dramatic Background

The choice of background provides the perfect sophisticated contrast to the bright flower.

 * Embossing Technique: I used the stunning Flourishing Garden 3D embossing folder to dry emboss a sheet of black cardstock.

 * Making it Pop: The deep, rich black and the intricate, dimensional texture of the embossing folder make the colorful tulip stand out dramatically, elevating the card from simple to striking.

The final piece is a layered floral design with a bold background, finished with a simple, thoughtful sentiment—perfect for sending a hug through the mail!

With this announcement, I would like to share a card I made using slimline dies from Die cuts and more - Slimline cross strips die. I dies cut from black and white card card, and coloured the white cardstock with pink, blue and green alcohol markers. I finished the card with a large flower and two smaller handmade flowers along with a sentiment.

Birthday wishes

Lets start March with my favourite flower, sunflowers. Recently, in our building I saw a couple of sunflowers blooming and I immediately made a card. To make this card, I used Slimline cross strips die and Sunflower critter sheet from Die cuts and more. Its one of my favourite brands where they have beautiful dies - Indian theme and slimline dies are wonderful. In recent time, I have been quiet busy with so many things and didn't have the time to colour. In such cases, I prefer to use critter flowers to make cards. I die cut the slimline background using black cardstock and assembled them onto a vellum base. While die cutting, the V shaped pieces all fall apart but I stacked them up together. I added the critter flowers to the card base and added some small flowers and leaves as well and finished the card with a sentiment.

Die cut in-lay

I am back with another beautiful card using dies from Little birdie - Blooming spread and Window blind dies to make this card. It took me a while to make the card as it required die cut inlay technique and colouring the petals. 

I first, used the background die and die cut for the base and trimmed out the sides. Then, using blooming spread die and die cut from black cardstock for the outline. Then I took a white cardstock and die cut again and kept the pieces intact in the die. I took each piece and coloured using alcohol markers and added them to the die cut outline. To finish the card, I added the sentiment and some embellishments.

Stained glass birthday card

Welcome to my blog and follow my work on social media.

I am back here after a long gap. I had some personal work and hardly time to craft or even colour. I finally caught some time to make two cards from one die. I saw this die from Die cuts and more - 

SLIMLINE STAINED GLASS B/G DIE. I did inking and die cut in-lay for the cards. 

CARD 1

For this card, I die cut the outline from black cardstock and kept it aside. 

I used a white cardstock and colour the pieces using alcohol markers and added them to the die cut base using in-lay technique

I set aside the white outline base for the next card

I used white gel pen for highlight and then added a sentiment

CARD 2

For this card, I took a white cardstock and inked it with rainbow colours. 

The notecard is slimline and trimmed the inked base accordingly

I added an acetate sheet and then the white outline to the card

I finished with some embellishments and a sentiment.
