Creating a Magical "Unbelievable Day" Dragon Card

Hello there,
Welcome to my blog and follow my work on social media.

I have been MIA for a long time now and trying to get back on track again.

There is something completely therapeutic about sitting down with a blank piece of cardstock, a handful of stamps, and a vibrant palette of colouring tools. Today, I am so excited to share a closer look at a recent creation that has brought a massive smile to my face: a whimsical, magical dragon-themed greeting card!

When designing a card around a sentiment like that, regular everyday scenes just won't do. I wanted to create a little fantasy world where anything feels possible. Enter these absolutely adorable baby dragons! Instead of fire-breathing monsters, these little guys are all about joy, friendship, and exploring their beautiful, floating island home.

Creating a multi-layered scene card can feel a little intimidating, but breaking it down into zones makes it incredibly fun:

The Floating Island & Waterfall: To give the card a sense of wonder, I anchored the main characters on a floating rocky island, complete with a lush green bonsai-style tree and a rushing, multi-tiered waterfall.

The Dragon Trio: I chose a soft, glowing pink palette for the dragons to contrast beautifully against the deep greens of the foliage and the cool blues of the water. One dragon rests peacefully at the base, another perches happily by the tree, and a third soars high in the sky on a fluffy blue cloud.

The Night Sky: A simple, delicate crescent moon nestled into a cloud ties the whole upper half of the card together, giving the illusion of a peaceful, magical twilight.

For the dragons, I started with a very light pink base, gradually building up darker rosy tones around the edges and adding tiny dot details to give them texture and character. For the waterfall, I used various shades of light blue, leaving white space to represent the splashing foam. The rocks were shaded with warm browns and tans to make the bright blue water pop.  A simple trick to make any card design stand out is layering it onto a vibrant coloured card base. For this project, a bright blue border perfectly complements the sky and water tones, instantly framing the artwork.

Do you prefer colouring cute characters, or are you more into floral and geometric designs? Let me know in the comments below—I would love to hear about your latest projects!

Mahalo card

Hello there,
Welcome to my blog and follow my work on social media.

Its been a while since I made a scene card using cute images. I decided to make one today using MFT Polynesian paradise and inks from Craftyscrappers. I love craftscrappers inks as they are juicy and work beautifully in blending. I was a part of their team long back and love their products. MFT has always been on my favourite stamp company list when it comes to characters and critters. I wish someday I join their team to create cards.

I wanted a simple beach scene so added a sky, ocean and sand with trees, house and a girl dancing. I stamped and coloured the images and kept them aside and while inking I thought I needed to add a house to one corner. After inking the sky I realised that I forgot to add sun and ended up adding it using alcohol marker. I added some waves and sand particles with alcohol markers and white gel pen. For the house, I used cardstock and inked them. I assembled all the images together to the inked base. After stamping the sentiment, I felt it was looking empty and added some dolphins, boats to the ocean and a shell to the sand.

Spin and twirl

Hello there,
Welcome to my blog and follow my work on social media.

I am back after a while to post a card I made. Just have so much going on and with album orders, home and work I am finding it tough to make cards. Even when I make cards, I am so lazy to make a post and share it here.. LOL...... Hope I am regular from mid-May.

For my card I used Spin and twirl from Your next stamp and used MFT sketch challenge as a guide to make this card. There was a lot to colour and a lot to work on as well with die cutting and adding some interest to the bottom part of the card.

I made the card using MFT sketch this week and I stamped the images from the stamp set and coloured them. Then fuzzy cut the images and kept it aside. I followed the sketch pattern and added some strips first and then a gold glitter before I added the images. I finished with a sentiment and some embellishments.

Mermaid and friends

Hello there,
Welcome to my blog and follow me on social media.

I am back with another cards today using BB Mermazing Stamp Set from MFT stamps. I decided to play along with the weekly sketch challenge and made a cute card. I stamped the images on white cardstock and coloured them. I fuzzy cut the images and kept them aside while I planned how I was gonna make the rays when I had no stencil or die to go with it. I drew that on a piece of paper and then cut them out accordingly and added colour cardstock. I added the images and finished the card with a sentiment.

Beary birthday card

Hello there,
Welcome to my blog and follow my work on social media.

I am back with a super cute birthday card here using Beary special birthday from MFT stamps and the stamp set has super cute bear images with birthday elements. I chose one image where the bear peeks out of the gift box along with gift boxes and balloons. I played along with this week's sketch challenge from MFT blog and made my card according to the sketch. I added a pattern paper and then dry embossed a white card stock and added the coloured images together and finished the card with gemstones and a sentiment.

Hello there,
Welcome to my blog and follow my work on social media.

I am back with a CAS card using SY Sky high stamp set from My favorite things. I am going along with the sketch from MFT sketch challenge and I used one image from the stamp set. I took a white card stock and a cloud die to die cut. I kept the other piece of the die as well. I wanted to ink both the card pieces. Musical thank you + news

Hello there,
Welcome to my blog and follow my work on social media.

I am so happy to be back with another card and also would love to share some news here. Recently I learnt that my blog has been nominated by Creativity matters and I decided to make this card as a thank you as a small gesture to thank them for nominating me.

I made a card with these cute and adorable mice images from My Favorite Things stamps (its an old stamp set) and its an adorable band or musical mice set. Its a beautiful set which we can use for multiple themes and I used to make a thank you card. I stamped and coloured the mice with alcohol markers and used distress ink for the background. I splattered some water to the background and added the images stamped the musical notes. I used black cardstock to die cut the sentiment and finished with some gemstones.

Lets zoom

Hello there,
Welcome to my blog and follow my work on social media.

I am here with a super fun and cute card using You make my heart race stamp set from My favorite things. This is an adorable set that has a cute image of a girl riding a bike and along with it there are a couple of cat images too with some lovely sentiments. I worked on kraft cardstock for this card and kept it clean and simple. Its a one layer card and I kept the colouring very simple along with just a sentiment. I coloured the Vespa in red and and this image reminds me of the time in Italy. I could've added some more on the background like some buildings or a garden but I left it clean and simple.

Sunny day in Paris

Hello there,
Welcome to my blog and follow my work on social media.

Paris is one of the most beautiful cities I have visited. I created a sunny day in Paris using the girl image from My Favorite Things stamps - Mon Cheri (I couldn't find the link in MFT site, so added a link to another site where this is available). I didn't use the Eiffel  tower  from the stamp set but created a sunny day around the image.

Beary birthday wishes

Hello there,
Welcome to my blog and follow my work on social media.

I have a cute and simple birthday card using MFT products BB Beary special birthday stamp set and an old stencil Crosshatch. I used the stencil to do some dry embossing for the background by running it through my die cut machine with an embossing mat a couple of times and the stencil embossing has turned out to be amazing for the background.

I took the bear peeking out of the gift box and stamped some gift boxes by masking the bear. Then I used pencils to colour the image and highlight with grey colour for shadow and mild yellow behind the image. I took a black pen and drew some strings and using alcohol marker I added some decorations. I stamped the sentiments and finished with adding pearls.

Mini slimline card

Hello there,
Welcome to my blog and follow my work on social media.

I have a mini slimline card for today's post and to make this card I used Adorable adventures from My favorite things and made a scene using images from the stamp set. Its a large set 6' x 8' with almost 31 pieces and I used the mountains, stones, grass and two girl images to make this card.

To create a scene, I made it look like they are having adventure trekking trip at a national park. This totally reminds me of the time I visited Yosemite national park and it was one of the most beautiful parks I have been to.

I added mountains, grass, plants and stones and then two girls with one on the left calling her friend who seems lost. It was definitely fun to make this card. For the sky, I inked with blue ink and I die cut some grass and inked with green ink. I assembled all the elements together and finished with a sentiment.

Twist and pop birthday card

Hello there,
Welcome to my blog and follow my work on social media.

I have another card using BB Magical dragons from MFT made to enter into 2021 Card Design Superstar challenge. I am in my hometown and I am glad I carried at least one stamp set with me so I could take part in the challenge. I was wondering what I could make for Innovation master and decided to go with a twist and pop card. Its a super easy card to make and these dragons make them cute. My focus stays on the images from the stamp set and I love these cute little dragons. I also did mirror stamping with one dragon and added it on the inside of the card.
