Non traditional candle for Christmas

Hello

Today, I am happy to share a new project here. I always wanted to try something new and different to gift my friends for Christmas. I am so addicted to flower making especially foam flowers and I decided to use them in this project. Generally, I gift some handmade paper ornaments to hang them in the tree. But this time, I decided to make something different.

If you remember, for Diwali I made some candles with flowers (link to the post) and I used this idea to make candles. Traditionally for Christmas poinsettias are the flowers used but I changed them and made some non traditional flowers.

The size of the candle is 6" by 2" and its a perfect size for this candle. Initially, I wanted to try decoupage candles but then changed my mind.

First, I took a roll of burlap, measured how much I need it to wrap it around the candle and added it to the candle. For burlap, I used tacky glue.

Then, I added some lace on top and bottom of the burlap. I wanted to cover open ends of burlap. Its not necessary to cover them as it would give a beautiful look too.

I stamped the sentiment and added it on the burlap. For this I used tacky glue.

Now to the main part with the flowers. I always tend to keep these small foam flowers ready as it can be used in many projects. I make big flowers right before I start with the project. Always use hot glue gun for adhering foam flowers. Before adding the flowers, I used the glue gun (small drops of glue) to the edges of the burlap, lace and the sentiment piece so they do not fall out. I added lots of these foam flowers and leaves with some pollen. I didn't make big flowers as I was sticking these flowers directly on the candle. I them added some gem stones using tacky glue and stone chain.

Once I finished the candle, I felt something was missing and it took a while for me to figure out that the candle needed a gift box. So I ended up making a box that fits the candle.

I used white card stock along with some pattern papers. I wraped it using some corrugated paper and burlap. I added an image from Le Anns World 101 called Kandi Kane
